The right wrong season

The late decision to come to Alaska was probably the best choice we made on planning this trip. It has been so unlike anything we have experienced so far that it has very much been like a special holiday in its own right.



Alaska has decided to postpone its slushy mushy 'breakdown' until we reach Canada so we have been blessed with clear roads, beautiful white mountains and sufficient snow covering to have a jolly old time!





The drive back from Denali National Park was sensational. Almost endless streams of dreamy, atmospheric mountains. Wasn't very conducive to blinkered, concentrated driving but Phileas made good use of regular lay-bys for photographic purposes. However, no photo could ever do justice to this magnificent piece of nature.



As we were chauffeured around Anchorage by super-kind and uber-generous Al and Janie, we witnessed our first perfectly clear sunset over the mountains from the houses with the million dollar views. Phileas has put an offer for $20,000 in. He's waiting to hear back.
